Close to my Heart

Yay, the weekend is here! After spending most of last weekend in Vancouver (still have to take pics of the yarn I bought while there), I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend at home, hopefully with lots of time knitting. I'm making good progress on the copacabana sweater. If it weren't for the fact that I think I'm slightly short on the yarn, I'd probably be able to finish it this weekend. Another ball is on it's way to me though, and should hopefully arrive early next week.

Like
Jenanne, I made a stop at the hairdressers today after work. Those gray roots (skunk line as a friend so kindly called it) were looking pretty awful. I used to colour it myself, but would usually end up colouring part of the bathroom as well. Fortunately, I've now found a hairdresser who not only is reasonably priced but is also quick and does a good job to boot! Here's a picture:

I like how you can't see my face in this picture, ha! If you really want to see me, you can click here (I really hate looking at pictures of myself on my blog, some day maybe I'll get over it). Seriously though, the hairdresser assured me that I'll be able to do this twisty thing myself, however that still remains to be seen. I think I'll do some hairdo instruction surfing this weekend. I'm strictly a wash and wear gal, but now that my hair is getting longer (probably the longest it has been since junior high), I'm having fun playing with it, putting it back, up, etc.

That's it for now. I hope I haven't bored you. I promise some knitting content will come sometime this weekend.

I'm back!

And I'm soooo tired. The adoption conference was fabulous, I attended some great workshops and learned a lot. Vancouver is a wonderful city, and in the off hours from the conference, I kept very busy. One of the highlights was attending two
fireworks shows which we thoroughly enjoyed. I also caught up with an old friend, and did lots of shopping. I spent mega money at Wool and Wicker, and now have yarn for my first two winter projects. I'll show you what I bought on another day, I'm just too tired today to take pictures! Also had fun browsing in Ikea, and bought two of these storage baskets in an attempt to try to organize my stash. Did lots of general shopping, spent far too much money on costume jewellery and hair clips in a neat store on Robson street, as well as a new stylish pair of low-rise flared jeans (my current jeans are rather UNstylish).

Doesn't look like my final day off today will yield too much knitting or blog surfing time. Laundry and grocery shopping beckon, as well as yet another family birthday. Oh, and making my very favourite Ukrainian food dish (similar to this one) with fresh beet leaves from Dad's garden.
