Close to my Heart

It's been a longgggg week, and I'm so glad the weekend is here! Another work week til my vacation, yay! High on the agenda this weekend is knitting and relaxing. My knitting time lately has been largely focused on the Broadripple socks:

I'm knitting these using the Magic Loop method, which has definitely become my favourite sock knitting technique. I've finished the gusset decreases on one, and am about to begin the heel on the other. I'm really hoping that I'll be able to finish these this weekend. Then I want to try to figure how to do toe-up socks using the magic loop. There are instructions in the ML booklet for toe-up baby socks, so that is what I plan to use.

Off to Curves now!

Well it was a long day, but the good part was that I spent my lunch hour in one of my favourite LYS. They had lots of new yarns in since last time I was there, and I really enjoyed browsing and dreaming of future projects. I showed great restraint though, and didn't bring any yarn home with me. I had promised myself in particular that I wouldn't buy any sock yarn as I have enough here for at least ten pair. I almost succumbed, but resisted in the end! All I bought was some addi turbos to use for chickami, and these really neat stitch markers:

I'd been admiring some nice ones online and really wanted some, so I treated myself to this pair. They're shown marking chickami (which I'm now off to knit a bit on before reading a bit more of Life of Pi and going to sleep early). Night!

What a longgggg Monday today was. Didn't help that I had a crappy sleep last night, and as a result was dragging myself all day at work. Definitely going to be an early night tonight as I have to be out of the house at 6:30 a.m. tomorrow in order to get to a 9:30 meeting three hours away. Yuck. The only good part is that I will be near an LYS that I love, so guess where I'll definitely be heading!?!

I think I dis'd the Denise needles in my last post! I later realised that it was NOT the needles to be blamed, but the fact that I'm using the smallest needles in the set, which are nearly the same diameter as the cable. Add to that the cotton yarn I'm using, and there is no way that yarn is gonna slide much. So I'm thinking either some addi turbos or some bamboo needles will come home with me from the LYS tomorrow! I think different needles will definitely make knitting this chickami more enjoyable.

Finally, inspired by
Steph, I've added my own gallery. I've been wanting to do this for a long time, but was simply too lazy. I didn't feel like knitting last night, so started it then, and finished it today after work. I figured that the longer I put off doing it, the more cumbersome it was going to be, so I'm glad it's now done. Link is in the sidebar.

Have a good week everyone!
