ChicKami

Has everyone seen
Bonne Marie's great new pattern? I absolutely love it. Despite telling myself earlier in the week that I was NOT to make anymore summer knits this year, I just have to do this one. So I immediately purchased the pattern, and was thrilled to see that it is knit in the round (seaming is not my favourite thing to do). I then went down to my LYS, and purchased this yarn to knit it with:

If the truth be known, I've been admiring this yarn for some time, and was just looking for the right project to use it for. I'll be finished knitting on the UCan2 shell (another great Bonne Marie pattern) this afternoon. I then plan to devote some time to Smooch. Not sure if I'll start ChicKami before I finish Smooch or not yet. Not sure even if I have the right needles til I try a gauge swatch. Anyone for a knit-a-long?

Update

I've decided to concentrate on finishing up UCan2 first. Why? Because I by fluke just bought a pair of capris, that as you can see from the picture, match the shell perfectly. So being vain, I'm not wearing them til I can show off my new shell with them! I've finished the back (or the front since they are both the same) but haven't blocked it yet. I've already cast on for the other side, and as it is completely mindless stockinette stitch knitting, it shouldn't take long. Hopefully it will be finished this coming weekend. I've also been working on Smooch, and am past the lace on that one. Picture coming soon. Both tanks are made of Rowan All Seasons Cotton. I absolutely ADORE this yarn, I definitely hope to use it again, even if it is rather pricey.

Just have to report on my Weight Watchers Progress. I haven't been able to weigh in the last three Tuesdays as I've been out of town. I was able to go today, and was thrilled that I've lost another 6.2 pounds! So My total lost since May 6th is 11.4 pounds, over half way to getting back to my original goal weight achieved two years ago. I really credit those early morning workouts at Curves for this success as I think they're responsible for boosting my metabolism. I've been eating well, but not quite as fanatical as when I plateaued a couple weeks ago. I'm so happy that my clothes feel better and determined to remain at my goal weight (once I'm back there) this time. I'm glad that I at least got a grip on things before I gained it all back.

Magic Loop

I've had a number of people ask me about the Magic Loop Technique, so thought I'd blog a little more about it. This method allows the knitter to use a circular needle for a small circumference such as a sock. There are some online instructions
here.

There is also a booklet available for purchase:

I actually found the booklet to be much easier to understand than the website given above. Once you get the hang of it, you'll never need to look at it again though, as it really is quite simple! There are however two sock patterns at the end of the booklet, including one for a toe up baby sock. I purchased my copy from Karp Styles.

Another helpful magic loop resource is the Magic Loop yahoo group. I've been lurking there for a couple weeks now, and have learned so much. I really must post my thanks to the group for all of their helpful tips. In their photo section, their are even illustrations of how to use the magic loop to do two socks at once on one needle! I definitely plan to try that soon.

Finally, someone asked what kind of needles I've been using. Right now I'm using aero needles, but they really aren't the best, as the cord is quite stiff. I plan to get some addi turbos as soon as I have the opportunity.
