The Friday Five

1. What was the first band you saw in concert?
Trooper! If you grew up in Canada during the 70's, you'll know who this band is.

2. Who is your favorite artist/band now?
Elton John. Saw him in concert last summer. I've always been a big fan, but even more so now. No one can play the piano like Sir Elton!

3. What's your favorite song?
Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen (Can ya tell I'm a child of the 70's?)

4. If you could play any instrument, what would it be?
I took piano lessons as a kid, but haven't touched it for several years now. I guess I'd probably like to have the opportunity to play piano again, and to become much more proficient.

5. If you could meet any musical icon (past or present), who would it be and why?
This is a hard one. Maybe Elton John for piano lessons!

I finished the first sleeve of sitcom last night. Not the most exciting picture in the world, but here it is anyway:

Not much knitting will be happening this weekend, as this small town girl is going to the city!
Sun Run weekend is here! I sure hope the weather is good, 10 km walk in the rain would NOT be much fun.

Rainy, windy, awful day here today. It has not let up all day, and is supposed to stay this way all week. I think the worst of the storm will be through here tonight though. Could be worse (as I keep telling myself) as so many other parts of the country have had snow in the last few days. Would have been a good day to stay in and knit, but unfortunately it was a work day for me. Sure hope the weather improves for the Sun Run coming up next Sunday.

I did manage to finish the body of Sitcom Chic last night:

Now I'm working on the first sleeve. One thing I've noticed is that my tension is so much more even when working in the round than it is when I'm working back and forth. I guess I'm just not as good at purling! I knit continental, not sure if that has anything to do with it. Comments and suggestions would be much appreciated!

My second
Elann order from last week arrived today. Five balls of Fortissima Colori, all of which I'm very happy with:

I hadn't actually intended to place two orders. I had placed the first one, then heard about the Fortissima sale, and since it was about half of what I pay for it locally, I just couldn't resist. I really consider Elann to be almost another LYS for me. They are located in the same province, and I always receive my orders very promptly.

I Love Weekends!

I've had lots of knitting and relaxing time today. Another few rows on Sitcom Chic and I'll be able to start the sleeves. I keep measuring every few rows, thinking in another two rows it will be time for the sleeves, but no such luck! My gauge does seem bang on though, so that is good!

In addition to knitting, I also forced myself out for a long walk. I walked 6 km, which is about the most I can handle by myself (I can just take so much of my own company)! It wasn't raining, but quite cool and windy, so I was cold and tired by the time I got home. I need to walk as much as possible this week, as next week is the
Vancouver Sun Run. This is a 10 km walk/run that my friend Louise and I are walking. We did it last year to celebrate turning 40, and had so much fun that we decided to make it an annual event. It's also a lot of fun having a weekend in the city for us small town girls!

Finally, thought I'd show you the first of two orders I made to Elann last week:

The Emu superwash is (of course) for socks, while the Magenta Eviva will be used for Bob, which will be my next project after Sitcom Chic. I also ordered two different sizes of my favourite DPN's, Swallow Casseins. A couple days later, I just HAD to place my second order of the week, as they had Fortissima Colori on for too good a bargain to resist. I expect it to arrive tomorrow or the next day.

I have a roast in the oven for dinner. I just may have time now for another row or two on Sitcom Chic before hubby arrives home from work. The downside of us having different days off is that it really limits our time together, but it does allow me lots of crafting time!
