Close to my Heart

Well this weekend is off to a really crappy start. Came home from work yesterday to find that we had no water. Turns out that most of the city we live in is without water due to problem with a main pane or something. It is now 10:30 Saturday morning, still no water. Oh well, I'm getting some knitting done, and hope to finish the Mexiko socks today.

Added to my sock stash earlier this week, my favourite LYS finally got their Koigu in, so this is what I bought:

I now need to go on a sock yarn diet!

Friday Five

1. Do you like talking on the phone? Why or why not?  HATE talking on the phone. Do it too much at work.

2. Who is the last person you talked to on the phone? Friend's husband.

3. About how many telephones do you have at home? Two

4. Have you encountered anyone who has really bad phone manners? What happened?  I HATE it when people leave voice mail messages and don't leave their phone number. Is that bad manners? To me it is!

5. Would you rather pick up the phone and call someone or write them an e-mail or a letter? Why or why not? Definitely e-mail. My friends who aren't online will rarely hear from me. Fortunately, lots of people seem to agree. Local family members often resort to e-mail rather than phoning.

As I mentioned in my last entry, last week was a crazy week with two business trips and long days. Nevertheless, I managed to add to my stash. I think I am maybe getting a little carried away on sock yarn! This picture shows the past weeks acquisitions:

The confetti yarn was my first sock yarn purchase of the week. It is one of the new spring colours, and I couldn't resist. It's hard to tell from the picture, but the colours will go with the yarn I also bought for
sitcom chic. I ended up with the same yarn used for the model with the Knitty pattern, so didn't take a picture of that.

Okay, sidetracked here, back to the sock yarn! The three balls of Opal were waiting for me in the mail when I returned home Friday, recent ebay purchases. And finally, the Fortissima Colori Mexiko Denim-Color was in my own LYS when I went in for something else on Saturday! It was something that I had wanted since seeing online pics of the socks knit up with this stuff, so of course I had to buy it!

This week brings yet another business trip. I plan to hit my favourite out-of-town LYS again, even though I was just there a week ago. I actually need to buy some sock yarn as a gift for a co-worker, as well as some circs to try doing socks on (branching out from using DPNs). This store is waiting for a shipment of Koigu, if it is in will I be able to withstand taking some home with me??

As far as actual knitting, I haven't really done much in the last week. I'm continuing with the Mexiko Colori socks, but still have a ways to go on them. I'm knitting the foot part now. They are my take-along on the road project. At home this weekend, I've been working on Topsecret. The body is done up to the part you add the arms, and one arm is done as well. I'm soooooo bored with this project, but am trying to make myself finish it when what I REALLY want to do is cast on for Sitcom Chic! Generally speaking, I always become antsy to begin the NEXT project!

Here's what I woke up to this morning:

The significant piece about these pictures, is that it is the middle of March and our first accumulation of snow here on Vancouver Island British Columbia. We tend to live in an area that gets tons of rain in the winter and not a lot of snow, but have had a very mild one this year (which is fine with me)!

Buttons has decided that this is a good cozy spot to spend the day:

Poor Bambi was cozy in my lap by the computer here til the phone rang and I had to get up! As for me, I don't think I'll venture too far today. This past week was exhausting, two seperate business trips, one of which involved two twelve hour days. I did however manage to add to my stash, and will post about that and other knitting related stuff a little later.
