Close to my Heart

Well, I've spent far too much time on the computer today, and here I am again. Much of that time was tinkering with my blog settings since the upgrade to blogger pro. I know it doesn't look like much change, but I'm rather HTML illiterate, so everything takes time, with lots of trial and error! I did however make good progress on the Colori Mexiko socks. Love this colorway, look for WIP pics tomorrow.

Forgot to mention earlier in the week that I finished the eyelash scarf.

It was knit using garter stitch 25 stitches wide on 7.0 mm needles, and used one strand each of online smash and eros herwool. I wore it to work on Thursday, and I don't think I've ever received so many complements on something I made. And for something so simple too!

Knitting Camaraderie

Today at lunch I went into a nearby grocery store to buy a salad. On my way to the checkout, I stopped at the magazine rack, and to my delight found the latest issue of Interweave magazine. The cashier saw the magazine, got excited and exclaimed "oh the new one is out." She then told me that she had asked the manager to get all the knitting magazines in! We then very excitedly talked about knitting for a minute and how much we each enjoyed it. I asked if she had tried socks, she mentioned the self-striping yarn, and I showed her the socks I was wearing and told her where she could get the yarn. This was a very animated conversation, you'd think we knew each other, but had never met before. By the end of the conversation, other customers were in line behind me, and I think they just thought we were nuts!

Looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend. I decided to turf the socks I posted about the other day (for now anyway) and have now started a pair of socka fortissimo 9069 Mexikana. Hope to get a lot done on them and maybe on Topsecret as well. If the weather cooperates, I need to get out for a walk and get some exercise. The next month is going to be crazy for me work wise, and includes several out of town trips, so I feel like I need to savour any relaxing times that I can find.

Made good progress on Topsecret last night while watching Batchelorette. So glad that Trista picked Ryan, I had been hoping for him all along, and Charlie came across as so cocky last night. My least favourite person on the show was actually Trista, but I didn't mind her by the end of last night. I actually had tears in my eyes at the end, what a sap I am! Looking forward to more knitting while watching Survivor tonight, but that being said, I really need to put the knitting down, watch less television, and get back into reading.

My sock in progress right now is using Fortissima colori 1000 in the #17 colorway. I'm not very happy with the way this colorway is knitting up, and can't decide if I am going to continue with this particular gift sock, or go to my LYS and get something else. I am particularly looking for something cheery for this pair, and don't have anything appropriate or not spoken for in my stash (that is what I'm telling myself anyway!)

Finished the confetti socks last night, here's a pic. These socks use colour 194 (they don't have an actual name attached to them). A few minutes after taking the picture, I hadn't put the socks away yet as I was busy on the computer, and Buttons decided the sock would make a good cat toy, as you can see from this picture!

Day off today. Lots of knitting time, including during a visit with the inlaws. I've made nice progress on the Top Secret sweater, as well as on the eyelash scarf. The eyelash yarn is soooo fun to knit with. I think that lots of people on my Christmas list will be getting those this year!

Stash Acquisition!

Boy, have I ever been a bad blogger! I guess I haven't really had much knitting news to report lately. I've been plugging along on my confetti socks, and am almost finished the pair. I did however have a chance to visit a couple of LYS's during yet another combo business/personal trip to Nanaimo. I'm very thrilled to have purchased
Knitter's Stash. What a great book, lots of projects to drool over. I also bought more yarn, as you can see from this picture. The purple verigated is Sisu Maskinvaskbar, which is a Norwegian worsted weight yarn. I think I might use this yarn for my first attempt at a toe up sock. The lighter coloured yarn I'm not sure if will turn out to be self striping or verigated. It is nice yarn though, and I thought it would make a nice spring sock. It is Trend-Collection Linie 1 Supersocke, and is an Italian yarn. The remaining yarn (Funny by Sandnesgarn, Linie 85 Smash, and Eros herwool) will be used for scarves. Off now to see if I can finish the second of the confetti socks before it's time to make dinner! Tonight I will start a scarf and/or cast on AGAIN for the Topsecret sweater that I frogged a few days ago!
