I am happy to report that I knit my very first sock (actually, it was a mini sock)! It was a lot of fun to do, and I didn't find using the three needles nearly as hard as I thought it would be. The sock is not perfect, I can see a few things I need to work on (especially the picked up stitches after the heel) but overall I am quite pleased. My next decision is what yarn to use for a pair of normal size socks! Not sure if I want to use the pricey sock yarn quite yet. I might check and see if Zellers has anything appropriate to practice on, otherwise I will break down and hit the LYS on Monday where I'm sure the Regia and/or Button yarn will be loudly calling my name!

Happy New Year's! I have my first finished item for 2003. I just finished the baby blanket I was making. I used the Preemie Teardrop pattern from the Crochet Cabana website. You can go to the pattern by clicking here.
I didn't do the colour change the pattern calls for, I used a variegated yarn in pretty baby colours. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out, I will take a picture of it soon. Back to work and reality tomorrow. I won't have as much time for crafting or this log now. Oh
well! I have the pictures for the next scrap booking page ready to go and will hopefully do it this weekend. Also plan to try my hand at
sock-knitting soon.

After buying the supplies last summer and doing nothing with them, I finally today did my first scrapbook page! I thought I might as well do a Christmas page before too much time passed, and that is what I did. It was a lot of fun, but also very time-consuming. I only did one page, with five pictures, and when all was said and done (printing the pics, cropping, searching for online and cutting out clip art, playing with layouts etc), it was probably four hours. My page is pretty basic, and as soon as I had it in the album I saw something I would have changed (a colour for the title) I am overall pleased with my first attempt. Back to the baby blanket tonight, I'm actually looking forward to relaxing with my crochet now!

Didn't work too much on the baby blanket yesterday, for some reason I can't get motivated to do so. Really need to get to it, as the baby it is for is already overdue! Ended up knitting a cotton chenille face cloth last night, and remembered why I really prefer crocheting--dropped stitches. For some reason, this yarn fell off the needle so easily, and after picking it up at one point, all the stitches came off and I had to start again. I think I'm going to print off some of our Christmas pictures now so that I can hopefully do some scrapbooking later today, then will sit down with that baby blanket for a bit!
